activities for ESOL learners
Citizenship
education is essential for ESOL learners who are having to become
familiar with a different culture and political system. Citizenship
can give ESOL learners the confidence and skills to become
integrated members of communities, which become more socially
cohesive as a result. This pack of resources focuses on the needs
of learners aged 16-19 and contains activities which can be used
with learners as part of a citizenship programme or in
free-standing ESOL classes. The pack is available to download or

Skills for
Life Teacher Education - Creative routes to qualified status
(update, September 2007)
In November 2006, two national programmes were launched:
- QIA Skills for Life Improvement Programme, led by CfBT
Education Trust
- LLUK Flexible entry routes into the teaching of Skills for
Life, led by NRDC
Both programmes include funds to facilitate creative routes
through to fully qualified status for both prospective/new and
existing adult literacy, numeracy and ESOL teachers.
